Tough on stains, gentle on fabrics

When it comes to laundry applications, customers require solutions that provide excellent cleaning performance while protecting dyes and fabrics from damage.

Chelants are a common ingredient in bleach-activated laundry detergents. They can help lift stains from fabric and also support peracid release and stability throughout the wash.

Innospec’s Enviomet™ Ethylenediaminedisuccinic acid (EDDS) solutions are highly effective in laundry applications, providing both excellent stain removal performance and unrivalled prevention of dye damage.

Combating the detrimental effects of transition metals

The presence of transition metals in water can lead to the decomposition of oxidizing peracids in a bleach system. This decomposition can reduce overall cleaning performance and lead to the formation of free radicals, which can cause fabric and dye damage.

By selectively binding to transition metals, EDDS actively reduces the potential for these ions to react with peroxide or peracid in the system. As well as improving cleaning performance, EDDS’ ability to selectively control copper ions means it offers superior dye protection.
