Over the last two decades, increasingly stringent global fuel emission regulations have required refiners to dramatically reduce the level of sulfur in fuels in a push for greener, more environmentally-friendly fuels.
Hydroprocessing is typically used to desulfurize fuel and reduce aromatic levels. As well as reducing these elements, the process also removes trace materials which provide natural lubricity to fuels.
Diesel engines rely on fuel to lubricate many of the moving parts of fuel injection equipment. Low fuel lubricity can lead to fuel pump wear and engine failure.
To meet the lubricity requirements of many diesel fuel specifications, lubricity improvers are therefore frequently required to protect against engine wear and reduce maintenance costs.

These chemically-neutral, synthetic, non-interacting ester-based lubricity improving additives provide the refiner with a reliable and secure method of increasing middle distillate lubricity and achieving HFRR specification.
Our chemically neutral ester lubricity improvers are particularly suitable for use in pipeline distribution systems. The OLI 9900 series has BPA, UFIP and NATO multi-product pipeline approval.
OLI 9000 series ester lubricity improvers are also available as multifunctional packages incorporating the benefits of our unique static dissipater and cold flow improver technologies.
